Hardscapes — Frequently Asked Questions

Real questions from Hall County homeowners.

What's the difference between pavers and concrete for a patio?

Pavers are individual interlocking units installed over a compacted gravel and sand base. Unlike poured concrete, they flex with North Georgia's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking, can be lifted and reset if a tree root pushes them, and add far more curb appeal. Concrete is cheaper upfront, but pavers usually have a longer lifespan and better resale value.

How long does a paver patio installation take?

A typical 300–500 sq ft paver patio takes 4–7 working days depending on site prep, drainage needs, and any built-in features (fire pit, seating wall, lighting). We don't cut corners on base prep — that's where most failed patios go wrong.

Will weeds grow up through my pavers?

Not with our installs. We use a layer of polymeric sand in the joints that hardens after activation, blocking weed seeds and locking the pavers in place. We also recommend a fresh polymeric sand top-up every 8–10 years to keep the patio looking new.

Can you build an outdoor kitchen on a paver patio?

Absolutely — outdoor kitchens, pizza ovens, fire pits, and pergolas are all common builds. We coordinate gas, electrical, and water rough-ins during base prep so everything lines up clean when the patio is finished.

Do you handle the drainage on a sloped backyard?

Yes. Every hardscape install starts with a grading plan. We set 1–2% slope away from structures, integrate channel drains where needed, and tie everything into a French drain or downspout extension so water never pools on your patio.
